Surabaya (Jatimsmart.id) – Pasca pandemi saat ini mendorong para pelaku Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) agar berjuang untuk beranjak bangkit. Guna mendukung kebangkitan tersebut, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) mengajak para mahasiswa asingnya untuk mengenal produk-produk kreatif UMKM asli Surabaya di Surabaya Kriya Galeri MERR.
Mengawali kegiatan, Ketua pelaksana kegiatan Emharis Gigih Pratama MA menerangkan bahwa pengenalan produk kreatif UMKM pada mahasiswa asing ini merupakan wujud komitmen ITS terhadap pengembangan UMKM lokal. “Kegiatan ini juga merupakan ajang promosi produk UMKM Surabaya ke khalayak luas,” ujar lelaki yang akrab disapa Haris ini.
Pada kegiatan yang diinisiasi oleh Direktorat Kemitraan Global (DKG) ITS atau ITS Global Engagement ini, mahasiswa yang berasal dari berbagai negara seperti Malaysia, Ceko, Rusia, hingga Prancis dikenalkan dengan beragam produk UMKM Surabaya. Tak hanya itu, mahasiswa asing juga berkesempatan berbelanja berbagai produk mulai dari tas, aksesoris, hingga baju di pusat produk UMKM Kota Pahlawan dengan kupon belanja yang telah disediakan pelaksana.
Salah satu mahasiswa asing yang berkesempatan mengikuti kegiatan ini, Alexiane Laroye, mengaku tertarik dengan gelaran ini. Alexiane mengungkapkan bahwa ini merupakan momen perdananya diperkenalkan dengan produk UMKM asli Indonesia. “Produk asli UMKM Indonesia memiliki kualitas yang bagus,” ungkap mahasiswa berkebangsaan Prancis ini, Kamis(13/4/2023).
Hal senada juga diungkapkan oleh Koordinator pengelola Surabaya Kriya Gallery Titik Pertiwi SPd yang menjelaskan, produk UMKM asli Indonesia memiliki potensi untuk berkembang pesat apabila memperoleh dukungan berbagai pihak. Dalam hal ini, Titik mengapresiasi kegiatan yang telah dilakukan oleh ITS melalui pengenalan produk UMKM kepada para mahasiswa asing.
Program semacam ini, menurut Titik, merupakan salah satu langkah yang dapat memperluas pangsa pasar produk UMKM. Dengan demikian, diharapkan akan semakin banyak konsumen yang dapat dijangkau oleh produk lokal Surabaya tersebut. “Semakin banyak konsumen yang dijangkau, semakin pesat pula perkembangan UMKM kita,” timpalnya.
Haris mengungkapkan bahwa ITS berkomitmen untuk terus konsisten melaksanakan program serupa sebagai dukungan kepada program yang digalakkan Pemerintah Kota Surabaya kepada pelaku UMKM. “Semoga kegiatan ini dapat membuat produk kreatif UMKM Surabaya makin digandrungi,” pungkas Haris penuh harap.
